We’ll arrive to Ñape Lodge, where you’ll receive a refreshing wellcome and the necesary suggestions to enjoy your stay. Later we’ll start the programed activities.

Dosel Tower

A 15-minute trek from the lodge takes us to the canopy tower, 37 meters high and a staircase with railing provides safe access to the platforms. The tower has been built on high ground. From there, you can have an impressive view of the primary forest horizon. From here we could even observe different species of birds such as toucans, macaws, parrots, monkeys, raptors among other species, as well as being able to enjoy the spectacle that the sun gives us in a wonderful sunrise.

Dinner.

Alligators searching in the river

For searching alligators we will return to the river and we will take a ride on the boat with a reflector. Then we will go along the banks of the river in search of some alligators. The lights from the alligator eyes will help us to locate them and we will be able to observe them. The alligators’ size is aproximately one meter or one and a half meters. With a bit more luck you’ll see adult alligators. You will also enjoy the experience of sailing at night on the Tambopata River.

Day 2

Breakfast.

Tres Chimbadas Lake

A trip on boat for about 30 minutes and then a hiking for about one kilometer and a half walk to the lake shore where we will find a catamaran that we will use to make the whole trip around from the lake. Arriving at the destination we will have an impressive view of the lake, surrounded by beautiful aguaje palm trees, with luck you will be able to observe a variety of wild fauna. We’ll observe species such as Hoatzin, monkeys, macaws, black alligators, flying parrots and if we are lucky we will observe a family of river wolves (Pteronoura brasilienses), specie that is in extinction danger. This attraction is adjacent to the Tambopata National Reserve.

During the hiking back to the lodge, We’ll pass along the parrots clay lick once again, so we could posibly see guacamayos in their activity one more time.

At the end of the tour we will return to the lodge to enjoy a delicious snack that will wait for us and you will have enough time to take a rest and enjoy the landscape from your rooms.

Lunch.

Ñape Botanical Garden

We will make a tour in the medicinal garden, located very close to the lodge. There we will meet the ethnobotanical guide who will share with us some ancestral knowledge about the preparation of natural medicines, many people formerly up to now continue to preserve the customs by giving good use to medicinal plants such as; the Ayahuasca, Chacruna, Para para, Chuchuhuasi, Cat’s Claw, Garlic sacha, etc. These plants are used and prepared by the community residents. The plants are especially used to cure some diseases, such as rheumatism, colds, malaria, diabetes, fever, gastritis, cough, anemia, etc.

Archery and Shotting

The guide will explain how the old Ese Ejas, made their bow and fringe with seeds, roots and lianas of the forest and used them to hunt some animals in the are. They did it because of the need for home sustenance and provide support for the couple to feed their children.

We will have the chance to practice this fun activity. To do this it`s necesary a lot of concentration, ‘cause it consists of throwing an arrow through a bow and getting the arrow in the target from a certain distance.

Dinner.

Night trekking

It consists of making a nocturnal hiking through one of the lodge trails: The main goal is to look for insects, amphibians, tarantulas, bats, nocturnal birds and listening to various sounds of animals, even the fall of the leaves of the tres. All of these natural elements will make more interesting the activity. At the same tiem you’ll be able to observe some nocturnal mammals, like the armadillo, nocturnal monkeys or maybe some nocturnal bird.

Day 3

Parrot clay lick

Located approximately 15 minutes by boat from the lodge, the parrot clay lick is one of the best places to spy on dozens of these spectacular birds that gather to perform their flutter ceremony before starting the collpeo. Collpeo means to ingest clay from the clay lick. These birds use to stay there for about 20 0r 25 minute and the they go out. The theory that explain why these birds eat clay is that animals need supplement of salt in their diet because, they’re far from oceans, there is very little sodium in the water or food. So they take the necesary salt and mineral from clay.

Breakfast.

Mammal clay lick

To perform this activity we have to walk for about 1 hour. So we could get the observation hideout.

Mammals also gather around clay licks to eat clay, although not in the same way as parrots, they do so at any time during the day or night, and they are much more reserved and less routinaries. Therefore, they are much harder to see, unless you sit here for 24 hours.

This Collpa is visited by the huanganas, sajinos, deer, agouti, squirrel, tapir. You will arrive at a place where you will stop for about 30 to 45 minutes to wait for these animals activity. But in the course of the walk the guide will explain some plant species and hopefully we will be able to observe some species of mammals as well.

Lunch.

Visit the organic fruit garden

We will board a motorized boat and then in a 30 minutes approximately trip we’ll get the Infierno Native Community farm. There we’ll find a traditional and sustainable agriculture that has been developed by settlers. We will make an identification tour of the plant species that are typical in the Region; such as cocona, sacha papa, dale-dale, yucca, caimito, pineapple, guanabana, zapote, pacay, guava, silk banana, passion fruit among others that we will perceive since we get this local community farm.
