Visit to Native Community Ese Eja-Infierno
Ese Eja is one of the last nomadic tribes that still live in the left part of the Peruvian Amazon. They believe their people once descended from the sky over a thread of cotton, and they were destinated to roam the southwest of the Amazon. Phenomenas like: colonization, rubber industry, missionaries and modern illegal gold mining have altered their lifestyle. However, the Ese Eja people continue acting as rainforest guards. Meeting them is a life experience that will change your life , in this opportunity we will visit the following places.
The House of Culture: The main house of the community will be open for you. It has a museum, which displays informative panels that explain the Ese Eja worldview. You will also observe traditional clothing, ancient pottery and stone tools, as well as work tools.
Casa de artesanos: An Ese Eja settler will teach you about the community artisan tradition and the meaning of their art objects that even now, native Ese eja settlers still continue recreating. The art objects are: exquisite woven baskets, wood carvings that look real. All art pieces help to keep Ese Eja’s heritage alive. In addition, contemporary crafts will be exhibited and practical demonstrations will be offered. You can also buy some products. The profit from sales will benefit all members of the community.

Where due to the nutrients, probably salt, found in the cliff floor, these clay licks are the meeting place of birds. The clay lick of macaws Chuncho is one of the most impressive wild shows in the world. This activity an unmissable visit for travelers and families who love nature. The jungle is filled with the screams of the Macaws as they alight on the nearby trees, flying to the clay lick to feed on the clay.
